Arlette Optics 80mm ED Refractor

Overview

The Arlette 80 ED is an 80mm-aperture, 480mm focal length (f/6) air-spaced ED-doublet refractor first released in 2021. The objective uses a single FPL-53 element paired with a lanthanum mating glass, and the cell is fully baffled with five micro-machined knife-edge baffles in the dew shield. The optical tube assembly weighs 2.6 kilograms without the dovetail.

Focuser

The telescope ships with a dual-speed (10:1 reduction) 2-inch rack-and-pinion focuser with a 360° rotator. The focuser is rated for a 4-kilogram payload at full extension; at higher loads the rack and pinion will slip rather than damage. The focuser thread for camera adapters is M48; an M48 → M42 adapter is included. A 2-inch to 1.25-inch eyepiece adapter is also included.

Accessories included

Included in the box: a foam-lined aluminum hard case (made in Belgium); a Vixen-style dovetail bar; tube rings; the dual-speed focuser; the eyepiece adapter; and an unprinted soft cleaning cloth. No eyepiece, diagonal, or finder is included; Arlette deliberately ships the OTA bare to avoid bundling lower-tier accessories. A field flattener compatible with this scope is sold separately.

Pricing and warranty

The Arlette 80 ED OTA retails for €1,180 direct from arlette-optics.example. The optional dedicated 0.8x reducer/flattener is €290. The warranty is six years on the optical cell and two years on the focuser. Arlette services its own optics in Lyon, France; warranty service requires return shipping at the customer's expense, and the company does not authorize third-party warranty repairs.
